A gearhead as an artist?

One never knows where art will come from, the precision and patience required of a mechanic is surprisingly similar to the attributes for a professional sculptor.

Dan loves art.

Johdan Stone Art is  Canadian and his art  is primarily created from soapstone but, no stone is safe from carving tools. These art pieces have many different forms and even more admirers.

Commissions  accepted for corporate and personal giving.

Did you know?

Dan created the soapstone award for the Best Canadian Feature Film at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival.

Due to Dan’s background as a professional stock car driver, one of his most exciting commissions was the commission to sculpt the 2007 Grand Prix of Toronto Trophies in Canadian soapstone.

The pieces that have found forever homes with private citizens are also close to Dan’s heart.

Oddly does it

Having odd skills come in handy when you launch a new vocation.

Knowing that 1/16 of an inch makes all the difference  works for stone and cars.  That tiny measurement ensures balance and precision for his soapstone dancing bears and in the ability of a stock car to go fast.

Art and industry have combined to ensure Johdan Stone Art is unique and well done.

His artistic journey became a profession after Dan purchased art from world renown soapstone carver; Ben Henry.  Time at the Henry home watching and learning from Ben one on one removed all doubt that this was Dan’s artistic path.
